International accreditation course on Kinanthropometry

Department of Physiology in association with International society for the advancement of Kinanthropometry conducted an international accreditation course on Kinanthropometry from 27th January to 30th January 2020. There were 23 registrations for the course which included participants from JIPMER – Puducherry, AIIMS Jodhpur, AIIMS Managalgiri, AIIMS Kalyani, AFMC Pune, Sri Ramachandra Medical College Chennai and MGMCRI. The organizing chairman Prof. Jeneth Berlin Raj delivered the welcome address. Chief guest Prof. Ravishankar, Dean MGMCRI addressed the gathering and congratulated the team for organizing the event in MGMCRI. Dr. Richa Gupta, Organizing Secretary delivered vote of thanks. Dr. Anup Adhikari, Exercise Physiologist, Level 4 Anthropometrist, ISAK, Canada and Ms. Debaarati Chakrabarti, Level 2 Anthropometrist, ISAK was the resource person for the course. First day of the course included series of lectures by Dr. Anup Adhikari on topics such as Kinanthropometry, Body composition, Application of Anthropometry in different fields, Photoscopic somatotype, Similarity and Phantom, Talent Identification and anthropometry and Calibration of equipment. Second and third day of the course has practical sessions which included skin fold thickness measurements and other anthropometric parameters.

Fourth day was for level 2 participants which has sessions on measurement of bicondylar distances and hands on training for technical Error of Measurements (TEM). The course concluded after valedictory ceremony presided by the organizing chairman Prof. Jeneth Berlin Raj. Feedback from the participants were obtained.
